In recent years, several competitors have tried to get in on the action by ordering SuperSplit log splitters from me and trying to reverse engineer them into a cheaper version. In at least two cases, such copy-cat companies have begun selling their wares, only to close up shop within a year or two — leaving customers stranded, unable to buy replacement parts (which they need frequently). The results have left buyers of these knock-offs less than impressed
That's my wife, Maureen, and I (top) about the time the SuperSplit was born. I married her in 1988. I'm happy to say that she is still the love of my life (and if you can believe it, she still likes me enough to not only live with me, but to work with me, too!)
And, yeah, I know . . . the heart is a little corny. But, hey — I'm a little corny, too.
Not long after, we took out the patent on some more “originals”: our five kids. You can imagine our surprise when, after being told by doctors that we could have no more children, we wound up adding not just one more, but TWINS — Tessa and Tristan.

That's a retro catalog image of the very first SuperSplit model. (Pretty snazzy, I know.) To be honest, sure, we made it look more modern; but as far as the guts of the thing, you'd be surprised how little has changed. It's hard to improve on perfection, once you get a thing right!
Here's a picture of a retro ME from a couple decades ago, looking more like one of my kids and using my own SuperSplit at home. (Yes, I really DO use my own product — because it really IS the best!)

I am definitely a family guy and love being the “daddy,” even though my youngest are now off to college. Raising this bunch has been one of the biggest challenges — and joys! — of my life! (Top left to bottom right: Rory, Connor, Evan, Tristan and Tessa) I hope you won't be offended, but when it comes to work and family — family comes first. (We'll still make you feel first, I promise.) And at some point, each of these shy and unassuming characters (yeah, right!) has actually worked with me in some capacity at SuperSplitter, Inc. That's my tied-for-youngest, Tristan (below), learning the ropes. And Connor, my second son, is with me full-time now as Production Manager.
